Rigid Sports Tape

3 items

Rigid sports tape is stiff and non-stretch. Unlike kinesiology tape, it doesn't give — and that's exactly the point: it limits joint movement where excess mobility is risky. What it's for. Its main use is preventing repeat ankle sprains: after an injury the ligaments are still weak, and rigid fixation during training or a game removes that risk. The same logic applies to taping wrists in weightlifting and gymnastics, and fingers in climbing and contact sports. Three widths, one color. 2.5 cm — fingers and small joints, 3.8 cm — wrist and hand, 5 cm — ankle and knee. A 9.14 m roll (the classic 10 yards) — enough for a while, since rigid tape is applied for a single session and then removed. White cotton, tears by hand without scissors. What sports medicine says. Sports medicine recommends rigid tape, not kinesiology tape, for protecting an unstable ankle — and studies back this up. If that's your case, you're on the right page. Apply to dry skin, without stretch, with padding wherever the skin is thin. The diagram for the ankle is in Taping by Body Zone.
